Day 4

I’ll be honest, today was not a good challenge day other than my walk to my kid’s school.  And my protein smoothie.  And my nectarine for a snack.  Ok, so maybe it wasn’t a total bust…keep reading though.  😦

Yesterday was ‘rest’ day on my BBL schedule, my kid’s first day of school (all 4 so Hubby gave me the day off) and I was exhausted.  This morning I was all ready to get my workouts on and stick to the schedule for once.  It didn’t last long.  Today was Hubby’s birthday which meant his parents were coming over later which meant I had to clean.  It took me over two hours just to do the kitchen.  I’m not really sure why it took me that long, it just did.  I did all the cabinets, counters, dishes (a family of six goes through lots of them) and the floor.  I worked up a good sweat and boogeyed on down to the 80’s on my iPod.

I was getting ready to start on the dining room when Hubby asked if I wanted to go to lunch with him.  Considering we’ve had at least one child at home for the last seventeen years, and because it was his birthday, suddenly cleaning and exercising took a back seat.  I tried to be good at lunch and went with a chicken salad sandwich that didn’t seem to have loads of mayo on it.  I added tomato and lettuce but passed on the cheese.  Yay me!  Oh, and I only ate half.  I should mention that it was at a deli our friend Josh manages so lunch was on him…and evil Josh also gave us crab bisque just to terrorize me.  In his defense I hadn’t told him about my challenge.  I will, later, maybe, sometime.  I washed it all down with a banana strawberry V8 which really wasn’t as good as I thought it would be.

By the time we got home it was little kid pick up time so I got in a second brisk walk in heels hoping to burn off some of my lunch.  My son left his lunch box at school so we had to run back down there and get it which meant not only did the dining room not get cleaned but I wasn’t able to squeeze in a workout either since the in-laws were then due any minute.

After presents we trucked all eight of us down to Macaroni Grill where I happily sipped on water and tried not to drool into my daughter’s Coke.  I ordered a salad and what I thought was going to be a small plate of bread covered with bits shrimp.  NOPE!  It was a HUGE wooden board with what looked like a giant rectangular pizza on it…..topped with cheese and shrimp.  Holy cow was it yummy!  I ate four slices.  Oh wait, no, just three.  I pawned one off on my daughter.  Because it was Hubby’s birthday he got a free chocolate cake thingy with whip cream and chocolate sauce.  It would have been totally rude of me if I didn’t share it with him…so I did.  Hey, he had more than half of it!  Well, kind of.  LOL  I know, not funny because not only did I not get my workouts in, I also totally blew my healthy eating.

flatbread

*I couldn’t find a pic from Macaroni Grill and people seem to like to photograph the flatbread from Seasons 52 so I nabbed this pic from another fitness blog The Fitnessista (her pics remind me of the ones from Necessary Indulgences.  I really need a better camera.)

If not for this challenge I wouldn’t get up tomorrow morning and start over.  I would say, “To hell with it” and go back to being lazy.  But, I have a spa day to win so Skinny Bitch is on a war path.  Slacker Fattie may have had a good time today but she goes back in the box tomorrow.

Sexy Smoothie

My very yummy, hopefully healthy smoothie.   I’ve recently been introduced to Almond Milk which turns out is actually really good.  This is coming from someone who swore on her life she’d never give up whole milk.

Today I was feeling productive and made several at once.  The Sexy Smoothie starts with Almond Milk which I put in my Bullet glass.  It’s followed by Publix brand fat free strawberry (or strawberry banana) yogurt.  Last I add in protein powder- the jury is still out on which protein powder I like best so stay tuned on that*.  If I have fresh fruit I add in a little of that, too.

I screw on the blender bottom, pop it onto the Bullet, twist and a minute later I have a yummy, belly filling smoothie!  I have one for breakfast in the morning pretty much every day and sometimes as a snack later in the day.  Paired with healthy foods the rest of the day and two or more high impact workouts and I’m on my way to getting fit!

If I could just stick to this for more than one day.

*I’ve been very happy with Designer Whey protein powder for a year now.
